Does anybody knows, who was the author of the emblem of GDR? ants@johanson.ee (Estonia)

Disc behind the symbol[edit]

Hi, can anyone enlighten me about whether there was a red disc behind the DDR symbol? Searching on Google results in a good number of DDR flags, none of which has the red disc, but rather with the symbol overlapping the yellow and black bars. --Orzetto 06:51, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[]

Accoring to Guide to the Flags of the World by Mauro Talocci, there was a red disk behind the "war flag" (flown on military buildings on land), not the regular flag... AnonMoos 19:14, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[]
